Dear Lynda Thompson,
For your reference, I have enclosed two (2) letters which I
sent to the Missouri Baptist
Convention and Southwest
Baptist University officials on
April
9 and
April
10, 2001.
As you can see, I made an offer of peace
to Southwest
Baptist University on Monday, April
9, 2001.
As I received no reply by 10:00 am on Tuesday,
April 10
as I had requested, I interpreted this silence as a definitive
rebuff and refusal.
However, this morning, I am hearing from several sources
that a number of the Southwest Baptist University
Trustees
are displeased and insisted that the SBU officials
who refused
my offer did not fully consult the entire
SBU Board of Trustees.
In other words, some of the SBU
Trustees feel that they were
not given sufficient time to review and respond to my offer.
As unlikely as this may appear, I have decided to suspend several
projects for the time being (although several other projects, which
are already in progress, can not be easily halted).
Tomorrow morning, I am writing to Jim Hill, the
Executive
Director of the Missouri Baptist Convention, to express numerous
concerns about this situation.
However, in honor of the Easter Holy
Days, I will inform him
that I am willing to allow my offer of
peace to stand until noon
on Monday, April 16, 2001.
Late next week, I will contact you with an update and information
on other financial arrangements.
I wish you the best blessings of the Easter Holidays,
Marie Ann
